A Porcelain Shop near the Beijing International Hotel

Guests of Beijing International Hotel never miss the chance to learn ‘porcelain transmutation’, one of China’s most ancient crafts at the nearby shop Jingdezhen Ceramics.

The shop offers a fine selection of porcelain made by transmutation known in chinese as ‘Yao Bian’. The caftwork originated from Song Dynasty 800 years ago, and involves burning mixture of glaze into silica, lime, or copper ore-rich glasses at high temperatures. After the spontaneous and irregular changing process, it is impossible to have two vessels with the same color.
